Hello,

My name is Christina Rodrigue (she/her), and I am a registered counselling therapist (candidate) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists, and I provide client-centred counselling services across the life span for individuals and families. However, I have a particular fondness for working with children and adolescents, which comes from my experience as a child and youth care worker and the obstacles I faced during that pivotal time.

I am passionate about working collaboratively, as I believe the essence of therapy is centred around the therapeutic relationship. One way I do this is by actively acknowledging that each of my clients is unique in an attempt to create a warm and inviting space for you to show up as you are.

Over the past ten years, before becoming a therapist, I have enjoyed working and in many different capacities. I have supported women, men, youth, children, families, and members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community who have faced adversity, oppression, substance use, suicide ideation/thoughts, mental health, disabilities, and trauma.

My areas of interest include substance use, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts/ideation, grief, and trauma. Additionally, from a therapeutic perspective, I can pull from several different frameworks and have training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Play Therapy (PT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). Furthermore, I am a certified AutPlay Therapy Provider. AutPlay Therapy is a framework for implementing play therapy and utilizing the therapeutic powers of play to address the mental health needs of neurodivergent (i.e. autistic, ADHD, sensory processing and learning disability) children and youth from ages 3-18 and their caregivers and families.      In my free time, when I am not supporting others, I love to hang out with my partner, our two cats and our beautiful, loving rescue dog. My favourite season is winter, and as a former figure skater and teacher, I still find stillness and a sense of calming within the cold air. However, I also spend much time at the hot yoga studio and have considered becoming a yoga instructor.

I look forward to meeting you,

Christina

Everyone is Welcome
