Laura Williams

Registered Social Worker MSW, RSW

We are living in truly unprecedented times and many of us are searching for a new way to navigate life in a positive and meaningful way.

Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, loneliness, relationship issues or parenting concerns? Do you want to find a way to make sense of your life, to make changes or adjustments within yourself to create and nurture healthy, positive relationships? You are not alone.

I am a dedicated mental health professional with more than twenty years of experience working with adolescents, families and couples. I am a Registered Social Worker with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work. Many of my clients have found success in working through issues such as family conflict, parenting, parenting in blended families, parenting after divorce, anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, abuse and relationship struggles.

I use a collaborative and holistic approach in counselling, providing support which considers each person as a whole being made up of many parts working in concert with one another. I use a variety of evidence-based tools and strategies in my work. My approach is integrative, I pull from a variety of modalities to best fit the needs of my client including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness and Family Systems. I have seen my clients realize a greater self-awareness, increased self-worth and increased self-acceptance, empowering them to overcome issues, work through struggles and meet their goals.

I believe the relationship between the therapist and the client is the foundation to treatment success. My client is the expert in their own life and I am simply collaborating with them to identify and explore different perspectives in a warm, respectful and compassionate way.

When you’re ready, I’d love to connect.

“We think we listen, but rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.”
~ Carl Rogers ~
