Hello and Welcome!
My name is Brenda Beauchamp. I am a registered counselling therapist candidate (RCT-C) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I have an undergraduate degree from Mount St. Vincent University and a Master degree from Yorkville University in counselling psychology. I have spent the first half of my career working in early childhood education as a childcare center owner in Halifax. My true passion is working with people and making connections which led me to the field of psychotherapy.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is something I am passionate about after experiencing my own life tragedy. EMDR was fundamental in helping me to process trauma by guided use of bilateral stimulation (eye movements and tapping). This was a gift in my own personal healing journey and something I look forward to sharing with others. I am a licensed EMDR therapist, but this is just a corner of what I offer in practice.
Working collaboratively with clients to find the best approach to treatment planning is the number one goal to a path of wellness. I work with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, and general difficulties in life that require support in a safe therapeutic setting.
I consider myself a lifelong learner and hobbies outside of work involve research in gender diversity and gender-diverse care for 2SLQBTQQIA+ persons in Nova Scotia. Inclusivity and diversity are important factors in all aspects of my life from career to personal.
Having an active lifestyle helps to maintain balance in my personal life. Outside of the therapy setting I enjoy spending time golfing, hiking, traveling, and anything that requires power tools to build and create art. Life is an experience, and working together you can expect warmth, kindness, compassion, and understanding.
I look forward to working with you,
Brenda
Everyone is Welcome
