Hello and Welcome! I’m Michelle, a psychotherapist and sex therapist supporting adults, couples, and helping professionals who are navigating questions of identity, relationship, self-worth, and emotional wellbeing. My work is anchored in depth, curiosity, and the belief that healing begins when we feel truly seen. I specialize in helping clients understand long-standing patterns—perfectionism, burnout, people-pleasing, emotional shutdown, and disconnection—through a relational, trauma-informed, and compassionate lens.
Over the years, I’ve worked with individuals who carry invisible stories: high achievers who feel empty despite accomplishment, caregivers who never feel “enough,” and those who can analyze emotions yet struggle to feel safe within them. I also support people rebuilding themselves after relational harm or major life transitions. Therapy with me is a place to slow down, make sense of your inner world, and reclaim the parts of yourself that have been silenced, minimized, or misunderstood.
Many of the people I work with are deeply perceptive, intuitive, and sensitive, sometimes exploring whether Autism, ADHD, or AuDHD may help explain their inner experiences. For those who are late-identified or high-masking, therapy becomes a place to untangle identity from adaptation, make sense of sensory and emotional patterns, and rebuild self-trust after years of self-doubt. When embraced and understood, neurodivergent individuals can live more sustainably, authentically, and in alignment with their true nature.
I also work extensively with couples, particularly where communication ruptures, attachment cycles, intimacy barriers, or neurodivergent dynamics are present. My focus is on helping partners understand each other’s emotional and sensory needs, move through conflict without collapse or escalation, and rebuild trust, safety, and erotic connection. I help couples learn how to reach for one another again, rather than retreat.
In my sex therapy practice, I integrate emotional, relational, and physiological aspects of intimacy. I support individuals and couples navigating desire differences, arousal challenges, pain, shame, inhibition, or the impact of trauma, anxiety, religious upbringing, or illness on sexuality. This work is never about performance, it is about returning to the body, reclaiming pleasure, and belonging to oneself in the most human and vulnerable spaces.
I believe therapy is a process of returning to your truest self, the one beneath expectations, performance, and survival. Whether you’re seeking clarity, healing, connection, or simply a place to exhale, I’m here to walk with you as you reconnect with who you’ve always been.

Hello, I’m Ashley Dye (she/her)
I’m originally from Cape Breton Island and have spent the past ten years living in and around Halifax. My journey into this work began in long-term care homes, where I had the privilege of building meaningful connections with youth through a trauma-informed lens. Those experiences taught me patience, deep listening, and the importance of sitting with someone through big emotions. I learned how healing it can be to have another person beside you—steady, compassionate, and without judgment. That is the presence I strive to bring into every therapeutic relationship.
Life can feel heavy at times, and navigating it on your own can be overwhelming. My hope is to walk alongside you—to help gently carry some of that weight while we explore what supports, strengthens, and helps you move toward healing and growth.
When you enter my space, I want you to feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely supported. I work primarily from a person-centred approach because I believe that empathy, authenticity, and acceptance are at the core of meaningful change. You are the expert on your life—my role is to accompany you, not lead.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: healing begins when we feel truly seen and supported. Whether you’re processing past experiences, seeking clarity, or simply needing a place to exhale, I’m here to walk beside you. My hope is that therapy with me feels collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the trust that you already carry the strength you need to move forward—one step at a time.
I have a strong focus on working with couples, supporting them in building healthier communication, deepening connection, and navigating challenges together. I often draw from the Gottman Method, integrating practical tools that help partners better understand one another and strengthen their relationship foundation.
I also provide trauma-focused therapy, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a powerful approach that helps process distressing or traumatic experiences without requiring you to revisit every detail, allowing healing to unfold safely and at your pace.
In addition to couples work and trauma support, I work with individuals aged 16 and older, offering a compassionate space to explore life transitions, identity, emotional well being, and personal growth.
I am especially committed to supporting the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community. As someone within the community, it is deeply important to me that therapy feels affirming—a place where you are seen, respected, and embraced in your full authenticity.
Outside of session, I recharge by spending time with my cat, lifting weights at the gym, or unwinding with a favourite comedy show. I believe joy—no matter how small—is an essential part of self-care and balance.

Hello!
My name is Dianna Lesperance (she/her), and I am a Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I hold a professional membership with the Canadian Counselling Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).
In a world where the pressures of our modern society can often leave us feeling disconnected and overwhelmed, it is no wonder we can feel stuck or lost in our current phase of life. I work from a space of deep compassion and understanding, offering a nurturing environment for emotional well-being. With a gentle demeanour and compassionate heart, I provide a safe, trusting, collaborative space for clients to develop stronger connections with themselves and family systems, fostering self-awareness, self-acceptance and other skills needed to navigate the complex ebbs and flows of life.
In the past, my roots were grounded in a strong corporate background in operations, sales, and analytics. As I branched off in my life, I founded a divorce coaching practice and worked in social services, which further fueled my passion to pursue my career in mental health. From a non-judgmental lens, I work to understand the complexities of human emotions and the struggles that accompany them. I work with individual teens and adults, couples, and families. My areas of interest include relationships and parenting issues, co-parenting relationships, healthy family relationships, communication, sex positivity, borderline personality disorder (BPD), depression, grief and loss, identity, and neurodiversity.
My specialized training includes Divorce Coach certification, the Gottman method of compassion-focused Therapy (CFT), emotionally focused therapy (EFT), integrative sex therapy for couples and somatic therapy. Other modalities, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mental health nutrition, support integrative practices for improved well-being. Future training focuses include an advanced couple and family studies certificate and an Autplay certification.
I look forward to connecting with you,
Dianna

Welcome,
My name is Grace (she/her) and I hold a Bachelor of Education and have experience mentoring youth of all ages. I also hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I am currently a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
Outside of work, I may be found travelling the globe, hiking with my corgi Gemma, baking, or reading fantasy novels.
My professional practice is guided by the belief that beyond our emotional pain are unmet needs, which, when discovered, can be addressed and met. I would be honoured to work with you to explore these needs and help you become more attuned to your authentic self. A cornerstone of a therapeutic relationship is trust, and I will endeavour to create a supportive and nurturing environment that fosters its development. In my office, we are a team, and we will work collaboratively toward your goals. Whether that be establishing boundaries, fostering secure connections, changing self-talk, or identifying barriers and patterns that hinder your ability to experience a fulfilling and balanced life.
My therapeutic style is very eclectic but is grounded from a client-focused lens which draws on various interventions and techniques to adapt to the best fit for each clients unique needs. I often incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioural, Emotion Focused, Mindfulness, Narrative, Solution Focused, and Person-Centered approaches. Areas of interest include anxiety, depression, mood disorders, career challenges, childhood trauma and abuse, social skills training, disordered eating, body image dissatisfaction, and stress management.
We live in a messy world but when the pain you feel becomes too difficult to cope with, let me relieve some of that burden. If you simply yearn to feel seen and heard without judgment, you are in the right place. Remember, we can do hard things!

Hi,
I’m Grace.
I’m a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.
I support children (5 years+) and teens who are navigating big emotions, school pressures, friendship challenges, and family relationships. Common struggles include anxiety, depression, self-harm, stress, and the ups and downs that come with growing up. My goal is always to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where my clients can share what they’re going through, feel understood, and begin developing tools that truly help.
I support my child and adolescent clients by integrating play-based interventions, person-centred care, and trauma-informed approaches. With children, I use creative strategies to explore feelings, build emotional awareness, and practice regulation skills. With teens, our sessions may focus on managing stress, navigating relationships, exploring identity, or finding healthier ways to cope when life feels overwhelming.
Parents and caregivers are an important part of the process too, and I welcome families who are navigating neurodiversity, trauma, life transitions, or simply wanting to strengthen connection at home.
In addition to my work with young people, I also support individual adults who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, difficulties with emotional regulation, relationship challenges, or life transitions. Together, we focus on building resilience, finding clarity, and strengthening well-being through practical tools and supportive exploration.
When we work together, you (the parent) and your child—or you as an individual adult—can expect a space to pause, feel supported, and gain practical tools for handling tough moments. Together, we’ll focus on building confidence, resilience, and hope for the future.

Welcome!
My name is Hayley (she/her) and I am a Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists.
Beginning therapy for the first time or starting with a new therapist can be a daunting and nerve-wracking experience; therefore, my aim is to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment that allows you to show up as your most authentic self and grow at your own pace. My greatest priority is ensuring you feel heard, understood, respected, and comfortable within our therapeutic relationship as I know being vulnerable and trusting someone with our deepest thoughts, feelings, insecurities, and traumas can be extremely challenging. In our work together, we will collaboratively explore your concerns, experiences, and goals to help you plan a new way forward.
I support individuals, ages 18 and up, and couples from diverse backgrounds, cultures, identities, and lived experiences. My areas of clinical focus include, but are not limited to, anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, trauma, relational and sexual health, and existential concerns, such as loss of identity, purpose in life, and legacy. I am trained in the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy (Level 2) and currently completing training in Integrative Sex and Couples Therapy to help individuals and couples explore challenges surrounding communication, conflict, connection, infidelity, and intimacy within their relationships.
While my treatment approach will be tailored to meet your individual needs and expectations, I frequently draw from several primary therapeutic modalities, such as Person-Centered Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Therapy, in my clinical work. I see therapy as a collaborative process between therapists and their clients; therefore, we will work as a team to construct a treatment approach that aligns with your current situation and ambitions for the future. Regardless of why you are seeking therapy, I would be honoured to walk beside you on your healing journey and offer support in any way possible.
I look forward to connecting with you and learning about your story.
Warmest,
Hayley

Hello,
My name is Janet (she/her), and I am a Registered Counselling Therapist with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists, and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I am also a Certified Sex Therapist through Modern Sex Therapy Institute and hold professional membership with the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counsellors and Therapists (AASECT).
My practice is informed by my belief that we all have challenges and struggles in life which are riddled with information to help us better understand ourselves. We can feel stuck, overwhelmed, and unsure of how we got to this place in our lives. However, if we can learn to better connect with our selves, experiences, and emotions, they can be a doorway to healing, growth, and building a healthier, more satisfying life.
One of my passions is supporting relational health as relationships are an essential part of our lives. At times, we can feel disconnected from ourselves and from the people who are closest and more important to us. By developing relationship skills and improving the health of our relationships, our well being can drastically increase. I offer a safe, trusting space for my clients to discuss and explore their struggles, their experiences, their strengths, and develop strategies to support them outside of therapy in reaching their goals. I am committed to listen and support compassionately and with acceptance, and welcome clients from all backgrounds, cultures, identities, and experiences.
My therapy services are person-centered and collaborative, where I practice from a trauma informed and culturally sensitive lens. I am trained in sex therapy, compassion focused therapy (CFT), Mindfulness, Gottman method, and emotionally focused therapy (EFT) to support individuals and couples in therapy. Additionally, I use a variety of other modalities to support my clients in reaching their goals and meeting their needs.
I work with individuals and couples in therapy where my areas of focus include sexual health, communication and conflict resolution, emotional regulation, stress management, and self-compassion, and have experience supporting clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. I am also trained in CFT to support clients experiencing chronic pain and chronic illness.
Outside of working with my clients, you can find me adventuring with my husband and sweet senior dog Phil, soaking up the sun on the beach, playing board games, catching up on Netflix series, and attending my favourite fitness class.
I look forward to connecting with you,
Janet

Hi there,
I’m Jarah, and I am passionate about walking alongside individuals and families as they navigate their personal and relational journeys of healing and growth. With a deep commitment to supporting people across the lifespan—starting from age 6 and up—I offer therapy for a wide range of concerns, including relationship issues, life transitions, trauma, and emotional distress.
I am a Registered Counselling Therapist–Candidate with a Master of Art’s degree in Counselling Psychology. My approach is grounded in a person-centered framework, creating a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered. I believe each person holds unique strengths and inner wisdom that can be drawn upon in the healing process—even in the face of life’s most overwhelming challenges.
I work with individuals aged 6 and up, with a particular focus on teens, young adults, and families. The challenges my clients bring to therapy often include self-harm, suicide ideation, emotional dysregulation (anxiety, depression, low mood, anger, etc), trauma, and relational breakdowns. My goal is to provide a compassionate and non-judgmental space where each person feels seen, supported, and empowered.
As a therapist and also a mom of three, I bring both clinical training and real-life perspective to my work with families. I draw from a range of approaches including mindfulness, somatic practices, existential therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), attachment-based approaches, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, which can be especially helpful in strengthening connection and communication between caregivers and their children during difficult times.
Whether you’re navigating the complexities of relationships, struggling with the weight of past experiences, or simply feeling stuck, I am here to support you in exploring your story, building self-awareness, and developing the tools needed to move toward a more authentic and fulfilling life.
I understand that starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and I want you to know that you’re not alone. Together, we’ll create a space where healing, clarity, and growth are possible—one step at a time.
If you’re curious about what working together might look like, you can visit my Psychology Today profile here to learn more about my approach and get a glimpse of my office space.
I look forward to connecting with you,
Jarah

I invite you to practice a few deep breaths as you reflect on aspects of your journey that led you to this page. Have you been feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed? Exhausted or drained? Perhaps seeking to learn new coping tools or wanting to develop your self-care practices? When we bottle up emotions and feel disconnected to both ourselves and others it can be difficult to access healing, recovery, and growth. Counselling can provide a space to press pause from busyness or turmoil. Seeking a safe space to rest. reflect, and to feel restored.
In our sessions, I will provide a safe space for you to feel heard and accepted. As we build our connection, I offer evidence-based tools and guidance crafted to meet your needs and goals. Sessions may include body-based practices for relaxation or the release of stored trauma and tension to improve emotional and overall well being. For talk-based session, I often weave together somatic and mindfulness-based approaches, embodied processing, concrete tools for coping and managing emotions and concerns, and support with life skills such as communication and relationship building. Body-based and talk-based approaches can also be blended together to support you along your journey.
I am experienced with supporting individual adolescents, teens, and adults towards hopefulness, healing, and recovery. Some specific concerns I often provide support with include anxiety, depression, trauma, inter-generational trauma, PTSD, ADD, learning challenges, work-life balance, burnout, stress, communication, relationships, chronic pain, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and more. Those I have been honoured to support often find my presence to be calming, which has enabled them to feel at more at ease.
I am a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate, Certified Canadian Counsellor, fully certified in Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice (ISTP)™, Registered 200-hour Yoga Teacher, and certified in Ayurvedic Nutrition. Additionally, I am a First Nations (Peepeekisis Cree Nation) woman with mixed European ancestry. My approach is trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, and holistic. I invite you to connect and to book a session.

Julia

Hello,
I’m glad you’re here.
The world is certainly filled with challenges and hardship that can very quickly lend to a sense of heaviness to life. And in the face of that heaviness, we may struggle to pick up all the pieces, finding ourselves in a scramble of uncertainty as to which direction is forward. Sometimes that heaviness can take center stage in ways that push gratification and fulfillment so far out of reach that life itself then becomes something to endure.
My goal is to help you, in the face of that heaviness, bring your best self forward, to carry that heaviness in ways that allow you to find that gratification, and most importantly, my goal is to help you connect with that sense of fulfillment, either again or for the first time.
Seeing as we are all incredibly complex people, with strengths and weaknesses, successes and failures, ambitions, personal hardship, and a rich history of everything in between, I find it necessary to bring into our conversations as much of you, as a whole person, as you are willing to share. And just as much, I do my best to bring as much of myself as well, with my own rich history of “everything in between” to be the best support to you as I possibly can be. With that in mind, I tend to view counselling as a very dynamic space, in the sense that the answers, I believe, that will help us overcome the difficulties you face are in your own experiences, and the combination of those many parts that make you distinctly you.
Regardless of what you’re looking for support with, my door is always open, but I would say that most individuals that I work with come to me for support with depressive moods, anxiousness, as well as trauma and PTSD.
Another area of life that I find a focus is relationship issues. Whether it be with a partner, a family member, or a friend, those around us are integral to our lives – and being able to express ourselves and highlighting how we relate to one another plays such an important role in building a connected and thriving relationship.
In supporting you with the difficulties you face, I prioritize a space of acceptance, based on understanding and compassion. And to help you move towards a life that is most meaningful to you, I take an approach to counselling that is guided by your values as an individual, your strengths, and a theoretical frame that is greatly guided by contextualism and a more process-based CBT.
I look forward to connecting,
Khanden

Hello/Bonjour,
I’m Louise Doucet, (she/her) Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate. Someone recently asked me why I got into counselling. The simplest answer is it’s who I am and always have been. I was the kid in our friend group the others trusted with the heavy stuff. Strangers have stopped me in the street, in grocery store line ups and at social events to share their lives with me. Holding space for others is as natural as breathing to me. When facing an overwhelming emotional experience, so many people feel lost, isolated and alone. Counselling, first and foremost, is a way to relieve that sense of aloneness and form a trusting, collaborative relationship with someone who accepts you just as you are.
My goal is for you to gain a deep understanding of yourself, your needs, feelings, and behaviours, and how these impact your everyday life and relationships. We will work to create the tools and strategies you need to be empowered to live your life authentically and feel fulfilled.
I specialize in working with neurodivergence, ages 16+ and especially a late diagnosis of ADHD. It’s my special interest because I’ve lived it. I learned of my ADHD halfway through my master’s program and saw how it was the underlying thread in so many things I’d struggled with and excelled at. It was validating and infuriating! The unexpected grief that came with it hit like a ton of bricks. Not only did ADHD affect my day-to-day life, it had an enormous impact on interpersonal and professional relationships. Intimate partners can struggle with so many things and one or both having a neurodivergence can add another layer of challenges that are helpful to seek counselling for. Having someone to navigate all that with would have been a gift which is why I have gone on to become a Certified ADHD-Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP).
I have a master’s degree in counselling psychology (RCT-C), registered with Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists, a Diploma in Human Services and Addictions Counselling, a BA in Psychology and a whole host of other education and experience in between.
Since 2014 I have worked with acquired brain injuries, addictions, workplace violence and stress, infidelity, intimate partner violence and women who have experienced criminalization. Self-Esteem, big life transitions, personal and retirement identity, anxiety and depression are additional areas I have experience working with.
My focus is always a Person-Centred approach first with Narrative, Strength Based and some CBT with Mindfulness as we progress. Next on the list of specializations to come is a certificate in Somatic Trauma Therapy. The connection between our bodies and our emotions fascinates me. As someone who lives in her head, and has always been a daydreamer, exploring these somatic connections is proving invaluable. The biggest link I’ve noticed so far is how our thoughts and sense of self are affected by the sensations in our bodies. These sensations often have very little to do with the present moment but are active because we’re reminded of something in the past. I could talk about it for hours.
I look forward to meeting you, getting to know who you are and working toward your goals for yourself.

Hello,
Reaching out for help can be scary. It’s my job to provide a safe and welcoming place for you to explore your difficulties in a way that won’t overwhelm you. We will work together and at your pace.
I believe everyone can benefit from therapy. Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, grief or have simply lost the joy in your life, I believe the answers to your issues are within you; you just need someone to guide you. My role is to listen, ask questions that can help deepen your understanding of the situation, provide a different perspective, and sometimes pose questions that challenge your thinking. I always do this from a place of compassion and curiosity.
I work with adults, teens and families who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and relationship issues. I use a variety of modalities depending on what suits you best and am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and am pursuing certification in Accelerated Resolution Therapy. I also believe that what’s going on in our bodies is an important clue to the state of our mental health, so I tend to incorporate somatic techniques into our sessions to build awareness and coping skills.
If you are struggling and trying to work things out on your own but just not able to get ahead, I’d love to work with you.

Hello!
My name is Maria Nemis (they/she), and I am a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate with NSCCT.
I know from experience that starting therapy can be intimidating. My practice is client-centered and relational because I believe that therapy should be, first and foremost, a truly safe and accepting space for all of the messy and myriad experiences that come with being a human. My years of work as a peer supporter have taught me that everyone is an expert on their own experience, and that a collaborative and non-judgmental approach supports people to access and build upon the skills to heal and grow.
As a queer and neurodivergent person, I’m passionate about facilitating access to support for members of marginalized communities, and I’m continuously learning about ways to make my practice inclusive, anti-oppressive, and equitable by prioritizing first-voice perspectives in my learning and operating from a lens of cultural humility. I work from trauma-informed, neurodivergence-informed, sex-positive, and intersectional feminist frameworks, because I think complexity and diversity should be celebrated. I am dedicated to disability justice, which includes a COVID-conscious practice and flexibility around accessibility needs.
My areas of focus include eating disorders and related concerns (body image, diet culture, relationship with food, etc.), neurodiversity, gender & sexuality, anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment, and relationship struggles. My primary modality is Person-Centered Therapy, but my approach is integrative, and my priority is to tailor the therapeutic process to meet your needs. I currently work with teens and adults ages 12+, but am excited to expand my capacity throughout my counselling career to include work with couples, families, and younger children.
My academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Dalhousie University and a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I’m passionate about research, and have enjoyed my involvement in research initiatives exploring gender diversity and eating disorders, transition-age youth, and peer support. I’ve worked in social services for my entire adult life, moving from direct care for disabled adults to mental health peer support for youth before finding my niche in the world of counselling therapy. I aim to combine evidence-based practice with the knowledge and wisdom of lived experience and first-voice perspectives in my work.
In my personal life, I’m a Cape Breton-raised Haligonian living with my partner, children, and pets. I love spending time in nature, making art, and losing myself in the ever-moving target of my special interests (usually related to art or science, but always with a few wild cards in the mix!).
Above all else, I am fundamentally interested in people and their stories, experiences, and perspectives. I feel enormously privileged to do this work, and I aim to bring a spirit of curiosity and empathy into all of my interactions. I believe wholeheartedly in the idea that “we are all just walking each other home.” If you’re feeling ready to embark upon the counselling journey (and even if you’re not quite sure yet), I can’t wait to meet you!

My name is Megan (she/her) and I am a Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the Nova Scotia College of Counseling Therapists.
Prior to becoming a counselling therapist, I was fortunate to occupy many supportive roles working with children, adolescents, and parents in school, residential, and clinical mental health settings. While my current therapeutic approach is integrative, I practice from an acceptance, mindfulness, and relational lens, often pulling from modalities such as Person-Centered Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Some of my other areas of interest include family dynamics, anxiety, and implementing the creative arts into my therapeutic practice (of which I aim to soon become formally trained in).
Above and beyond, I am passionate about supporting others from an equitable and socially-just place and strive to ensure this is at the core of my practice. If we work together, my number one priority will always be that you feel safe and welcome. Moreover, I am a firm believer that individuals are capable of change in all areas of their lives. Oftentimes, it is the help of someone outside of the picture to help nonjudgmentally guide this process.
I look forward to getting to know you and am grateful to be a part of this journey alongside you,
Megan

Hello,
I’m Nic (they/them), a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate and Canadian Certified Counsellor with boundless curiosity about the way people make meaning in their worlds. I am passionate about helping people who are struggling with anxiety and depression, and who are looking to reconnect with joy in their lives. As your therapist, I will offer a nonjudgmental, nurturing space for you to process old hurts and reach new levels of self-understanding.
I work from an integrative lens, meaning that I draw on a variety of approaches in supporting your wellness, including narrative, person-centered, emotion-focused, and acceptance and commitment therapies. My practice is collaborative and trauma-informed and emphasizes mindfulness, attachment, and self-compassion. I also work from a feminist framework that is rooted in anti-oppressive values and an awareness of the ways that power and oppression impact our mental health.
My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, identity, life transitions, disordered eating, relationships, grief, and self-esteem. Whatever has brought you to seek support, our work will be tailored to your needs. Nobody knows you better than you do, and your knowledge of yourself is a valuable resource that we will draw upon. Through our work together, we will write a new story that will support you to experience life in the way you want to.
As a queer non-binary counsellor, I am fiercely passionate about my community and celebrating queerness, transness, and gender diversity. With that said, I am honoured to work with folks from all walks of life. When I am not working, you can find me curled up with a good book, spending time with my loved ones, or walking near the ocean.
If you are stuck and ready for something to shift, I am here. Together we’ll chart a course forward – one that brings happier relationships, skills that make the hard days a little softer, and a greater sense of fulfillment and peace.
Reaching out for support is a courageous act. It would be a privilege to walk alongside you in your journey. I look forward to meeting you!

Life is challenging! Most of us are routinely faced with an increased number of demands placed on us by situations, expectations, workload, mental load, emotional load, relationships, physical health, mental health and more. Hello and Welcome!
My name is Pieter, I am a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate with Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT). I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychological Counselling from the University of South Africa and a Masters of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in New Brunswick.
I am experienced in working with clients who encounter anxiety, depression, other general mental health challenges, and relationship distress. I work with individuals, couples, adult family systems, and ex-partners who are co-parenting.
In our individual sessions, we explore your hopes, dreams and struggles. Together we will embark on a journey of self-discovery to help you live your best life.
In our couples’ work, I support partners with communication, connection, identifying conflict patterns, new ways of relating, and moving forward in repair. Sometimes our work is about tweaking a few things and other times our work is about a complete reset leading to a more enriching relationship for each of you.
In our family work, I help you to build stronger, healthier bonds, creating more closeness, while understanding one another and relational dynamics in a way that offers healing for all members.
In our co-parenting work, I help ex-partners prioritize their children, without pain from the past interfering with their efforts. I am specially trained and certified as a Co-Parenting Plan Mediator; this collaborative process, empowers parents to work together for the best interests of their children to create a child-centered plan.
My work is deeply rooted in the psychological framework of Choice Theory which looks at what control we have over our actions and how we can choose behaviours that best fulfill our primary needs. Choice theory emphasizes personal responsibility and the power of individual autonomy.
In addition, my work also encompasses Eclectic Theory which invites me to be flexible and adaptable in my approach, using the best tools and strategies available from multiple theories to help you achieve your personal goals.
When I am not working, I am most likely spending time with my partner of 20 years, my teenage daughter, and our Yorkshire terrier named Stella.
I look forward to connecting with you,
Pieter

Hi, I’m Ray (he/him).
I know reaching out for therapy isn’t easy. It can feel overwhelming, even scary, especially when you’re already carrying a lot. I want you to know that you don’t have to go through it alone I’m glad you’re here.
My work is all about creating a space where you feel safe, respected, and truly understood. I support adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, obsessive thoughts, questions about identity, relationship challenges, or big life transitions. Many of the people I see are longing to feel more grounded, more connected, and more like themselves again.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each person I work with. I believe therapy isn’t just about easing symptoms it’s about helping you discover new ways of relating to yourself and others, and finding the tools that will support your growth long after our sessions end. I draw on a range of approaches, including Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, Self-Compassion Focused Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and emotion regulation strategies. Together, we’ll explore what feels most helpful for you.
In addition to my work with individuals, I also support families and parents who are caring for a neurodivergent child. I understand the unique joys and challenges that can come with parenting a child whose needs may not always fit within society’s expectations. Together, we can explore the thoughts, emotions, and dynamics that arise in this journey, and work toward finding balance, compassion, and resilience as a caregiver.
As a proud member of the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community, creating an inclusive and affirming space is especially important to me. Whoever you are, wherever you find yourself right now, you will be met with care and acceptance.
I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and am a Registered Counselling Therapist with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT). It would be an honour to walk alongside you in this part of your journey.

Hi, I’m Michael. This is a place to exhale. You can speak freely and without judgment, even if the words feel tangled or hard to find. I will meet you with attention, curiosity, and steadiness. Together we will sort through what feels heavy, uncover what you need, and move toward a life that feels more like yours.
I work with adults, couples, business leaders, parents, and young adults sixteen and older. I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely understood, respected, and safe enough to explore the parts of your life that feel heavy or confusing. My presence in the room is calm and steady, and I aim to create a supportive environment where you can speak freely and feel grounded.
My approach blends Person Centred Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and the Gottman Method. These approaches help me shape sessions that are both reflective and practical. I want you to have space to slow down and understand what is happening inside you, while also leaving with a clearer sense of direction. I focus on conversations that help you reconnect with your strengths, understand the patterns that influence your relationships, and take small steps toward the changes that matter most.
I support clients through a wide range of concerns, including relationship issues, work stress, transitions, depression, anxiety, and a loss of purpose or direction. Many of the people who come to see me carry a lot of responsibility in their families, workplaces, or communities. They often know how to support everyone else but feel unsure how to support themselves. I understand how isolating that can be, and I work to provide a space where you can explore your own needs without judgment.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years in leadership roles in both the corporate and entrepreneurial world. I keep that part of my life in the background, but the experience still informs my work. I understand what it is like to manage people, make difficult decisions, navigate pressure, and try to hold your personal life together while work continues to demand more. This perspective helps me support clients who are dealing with burnout, role strain, identity changes, or the emotional impact of carrying responsibility for others.
In my work with couples, I aim to create a space where each partner feels heard and understood. I help couples identify the patterns that keep them stuck, understand the emotions underneath their reactions, and build healthier ways of communicating. My focus is always on compassion, curiosity, and clarity. I believe that most relationship pain comes from needs that have not been expressed, from moments where partners feel unseen, and from the longing to reconnect with the person they love.
At its heart, therapy is a place to breathe, reflect, and remember your own strength. My goal is to help you move toward a life that feels aligned with who you are and with the relationships that matter most. You bring your story, and I bring my presence and training. Together we work toward healing, clarity, and a renewed sense of direction.

Hello!
My name is Jenna Jamieson (she/her), and I am a bilingual (French/English) Acadian-Métis registered counselling therapist candidate with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I work with teens aged sixteen and older, as well as adults, many of whom identify as neurodivergent or are exploring the possibility that they might be. Clients often come to me wanting a space where they don’t have to mask, over-explain, or fit into expectations that have never felt natural to them. Whether you are navigating overwhelm, communication challenges, burnout, identity questions, strained relationships, or simply trying to understand yourself more deeply, I offer a space where your inner experience is honoured and taken seriously.
When you work with me, you can expect a warm and calming presence. I aim to create an atmosphere where you can show up exactly as you are whether you’re feeling curious, quiet, emotionally full, or unsure of where to begin. I move at a pace that respects your comfort level, sensory needs, and emotional capacity. I see therapy as a collaborative process, where we make sense of things together, and where you have room to explore patterns, feelings, and experiences without judgment. My work is deeply grounded in a neuroaffirming lens, which means I don’t view neurodivergence as a problem to correct. Instead, I see each person’s brain, nervous system, needs, and ways of moving through the world as meaningful and valid. My role is to help you understand your experiences with compassion, recognize your strengths, and build clarity around what you want your life to look and feel like.
A large part of my approach involves helping you develop emotional insight, strengthen communication and boundaries, navigate stress and sensory overwhelm, and build self-understanding in a way that fosters both confidence and self-compassion. Many people I support are working through the impact of masking, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or long-standing patterns that no longer serve them. Together, we explore what is getting in the way, what you’re longing for, and how to create possibilities that feels authentic rather than forced.
My therapeutic work is informed by modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach; instead, I gently tailor these frameworks to suit your needs, goals, and values. My academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in French and Criminology from Saint Mary’s University and a Master of Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Combined with extensive clinical training and my own lived experience, this foundation allows me to offer a balanced blend of evidence-based support and relational presence.
I was drawn to this profession because I know how life-changing it can be to sit with someone who truly understands and respects your inner world. It takes courage to seek support, and I hold that courage with deep care. My hope is that you leave each session feeling more grounded, more understood, and more connected to yourself. I feel honoured to walk alongside you as you explore, heal, and grow, and I am committed to providing inclusive, affirming care to every person who enters my therapy space.

Hi, I’m Matt.
I support adults and couples as they try to make sense of what’s unfolding in their lives and relationships.
My path to counselling wasn’t a straight line, but the common thread through everything I’ve done has always been my interest in people—their stories, their turning points, and the moments when life feels a bit too big to sort through alone. In every role I held before becoming a therapist, I found myself drawn to conversations where someone needed space to think, unpack a transition, or simply be heard without judgment. Over time, I noticed that those were the moments that felt most meaningful to me, and they’re what eventually led me into this work.
In my counselling practice, I meet with individuals and couples navigating stress, disconnection, grief, transitions, or a quieter sense that something important has shifted inside them. Whether someone is wrestling with a major life event or trying to understand a growing discomfort they can’t quite name, I aim to offer a steady, grounded place to slow down, reflect, and move toward clarity.
My approach is conversational, collaborative, and respectful. I want therapy to feel like a space where you can breathe a little easier and start to make sense of what’s happening internally and relationally. I integrate emotional reflection with practical strategies and tailor the work to what feels most useful for you. I draw from Gottman Method, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, blending them in a way that fits your needs rather than expecting you to fit a particular model. Across all of my work, I hold a trauma-informed lens rooted in curiosity, not assumptions, and a belief that people do their best work when they feel understood and not rushed.
Before becoming a therapist, I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, which first sparked my interest in how emotional, relational, and behavioural patterns shape the ways we move through our lives. I’ve been married for nine years and am a parent to two children who continually remind me how much we are all learning, adapting, and growing in our relationships. Parenthood has deepened my appreciation for connection, resilience, and the everyday moments that shape who we are.
If you’re navigating change, feeling stuck, or wanting your relationships to feel more connected and grounded, I’d be glad to meet and explore whether working together feels like a good fit.

Hello and welcome,
My name is Yana, and I’m a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. My approach to therapy is personal, integrative and grounded in the belief that healing happens through relationships.
I work with individuals ages 16 and older including LGBTQ+ clients, my areas of clinical focus are identity exploration, relationships, emotional regulation, life transitions, and sexuality.
To me, there is no such thing as being “normal” just your normal, your lived experiences, and your way of being in the world. My goal is to help you understand yourself more deeply, explore the relationships you want to build, and create a life that feels aligned with who you are. Whether you’re navigating a major life transition, exploring your identity, struggling with emotional overwhelm or trying to improve the relationships in your life, my hope is that therapy becomes a place where you can breathe, unpack and reconnect with yourself.
My work is collaborative and flexible. I pull from different modalities depending on what you need, including Person-Centred Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Relational and Attachment-based approaches, and Sex Therapy-Informed work. I believe sexuality is simply part of being human, and it’s shaped by things like stress, trauma, relationships, culture and everyday life. I aim to create a comfortable space to talk about sex and intimacy without shame, because these conversations can deepen self-understanding and help you build more meaningful relationships even when we’re working one-on-one.
During my practicum at Couch of Hope, I learned how meaningful it is to show up for someone exactly as they are. My experience as a Residential Counsellor with a local non-profit agency also gave me a closer look at how our systems function, and sometimes how they don’t. Watching people try to make sense of that while still trying to survive has changed the way I understand support. It’s why I’m committed to creating a space where you don’t have to fight to be heard or understood. My goal as your therapist is to help you reconnect with yourself, your values and the things you can control, even when the world feels unsteady.
In my personal life, I recharge through time with loved ones, making art, reading, or doing anything that helps me feel creative! If art is something you’re passionate about, too, I’m always happy to integrate elements of art-based work into our sessions.
If this approach speaks to you, I’d be honoured to connect and support you in a space where you can explore your story and what matters most to you.

Hello and Welcome!
My name is Brenda Beauchamp. I am a registered counselling therapist candidate (RCT-C) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I have an undergraduate degree from Mount St. Vincent University and a Master degree from Yorkville University in counselling psychology. I have spent the first half of my career working in early childhood education as a childcare center owner in Halifax. My true passion is working with people and making connections which led me to the field of psychotherapy.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is something I am passionate about after experiencing my own life tragedy. EMDR was fundamental in helping me to process trauma by guided use of bilateral stimulation (eye movements and tapping). This was a gift in my own personal healing journey and something I look forward to sharing with others. I am a licensed EMDR therapist, but this is just a corner of what I offer in practice.
Working collaboratively with clients to find the best approach to treatment planning is the number one goal to a path of wellness. I work with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, and general difficulties in life that require support in a safe therapeutic setting.
I consider myself a lifelong learner and hobbies outside of work involve research in gender diversity and gender-diverse care for 2SLQBTQQIA+ persons in Nova Scotia. Inclusivity and diversity are important factors in all aspects of my life from career to personal.
Having an active lifestyle helps to maintain balance in my personal life. Outside of the therapy setting I enjoy spending time golfing, hiking, traveling, and anything that requires power tools to build and create art. Life is an experience, and working together you can expect warmth, kindness, compassion, and understanding.
I look forward to working with you,
Brenda

Hello and Welcome,
My name is Carl, and I am a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists, and I am also registered as a Canadian Certified Counsellor through our national association, the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
I was born in Cape Breton and at a young age my parents moved to Halifax where I grew up in Fairview. With the exception of a few years working in Calgary, Alberta, I have lived most of my life in Halifax. I am married with a teenage daughter in high school and can attest to the stress which sometimes can accompany family life.
My academic background includes a BA from Saint Mary’s University and a B.Ed. post-graduate degree from St. Francis Xavier University. Early in my career I taught remedial studies, flex education, learning resource, as well as summer & night school programs at various Halifax and Dartmouth schools. Recently, I completed a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and practiced at Couch of Hope in Dartmouth.
I have been employed with the Nova Scotia Provincial Government for 17 years, and as part of my role, I speak with clients daily who have had contact with law enforcement, social services, and other departments. Understanding the government context well, I can help provide guidance and support navigating challenges which may have evolved from within the system.
At 50 years of age, you may be wondering why I decided to return to university for a master’s degree and begin counselling. The inspiration for this decision came from witnessing a family member who was vibrant, spontaneous, and an accomplished professional become reduced to a shell, withdrawing completely from life, addicted and suffering. Over the course of a year, and after losing employment and becoming increasingly sick; finally, they entered and completed inpatient treatment. Experiencing this wellness journey and supporting their recovery during the following year, I met many talented people who cared deeply about those affected by mental illness and addiction. With the encouragement of others, I began my own journey, learning about counselling and beginning to assist others with finding their way. I truly believe a new path in life can always be created. The process of change can take time; however, it is never too late to start, and no obstacle is too great to overcome.
I utilize an integrative approach rooted in a combination of theories including humanist, psychodynamic, and cognitive. This provides a basis for the model of treatment intervention I apply in session by blending forms such as positive psychology, narrative and strength-based therapy, and cognitive processing. As your counsellor, I can assure you’ll receive unconditional positive regard, warmth, empathy, and always be treated with dignity.
Thoughts I hold closely: I believe in hope, I believe change is always possible, I believe in second chances. Life can deliver unexpected difficulty; as your counsellor I am here to help. Together, we will work through the challenges.
Take care,
Carl

Welcome,
My name is John Jennings, and I am a Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I hold an Education degree from Dalhousie University, a master’s degree in counselling from Acadia University, and a Teachers’ Art Certificate from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. I have been working with kids and youth for almost 20 years as a school counsellor in the Bedford and Sackville areas, and I love what I do. However, I am starting my transition to retirement and life after 9-to-5.
I believe that establishing trust is key to building any relationship in our lives, and the client-counsellor relationship is no different. I strive to create a warm and accepting atmosphere, often using humour and curiosity, that allows clients to speak openly and feel supported, in a non-judgmental and safe space.
While I tend to work in a variety of modalities depending on the needs of my clients, I typically use an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy framework in my approach and believe that by understanding who we are and what we value, we can move past or work with the negative thoughts that sometimes seem to overwhelm us. To make this journey easier, I believe in creating and developing positive coping skills that will enable us to be more present and less stuck in the regret of the past or the worry of the future.
I hold a Visual Art Certificate from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and I believe in the power of art. I love to incorporate simple colouring and drawing into my painting and journaling sessions, while creating a calming space both within and outside our bodies. While I have lots of experience working with children and youth concerning anxiety, negative self-image, gender and sexual identity, self-regulation, and suicidal ideation, I also love working with anyone who is seeking support during difficult transitions, whether they are having to redefine themselves due to changes in work or life patterns, or significant losses.
When I am not working, I gain energy, calmness, and perspective from nature through activities like hiking, paddling, biking, or from the arts, such as music, reading, and solving a good puzzle.
I look forward to connecting.
John

Namaste, Kwe’, Hello, and Bonjour. All parts of you are welcome here.
I’m Kartik Saini (he/him), a queer therapist based in Halifax (Kjipuktuk), Nova Scotia. As an immigrant and person of color, my own path through identity, grief, and healing shapes every part of my work. I know what it’s like to sit on the client side of the room—working through trauma and learning to reclaim my inner resources—and I now bring that lived experience into my role as a therapist with warmth, clarity, and deep respect.
My work is grounded in a relational, trauma-informed approach that meets people where they are—because real healing happens when we feel seen and safe enough to show up as we are. I draw from modalities that were pivotal in my own healing, including EMDR, Brainspotting, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) for individual therapy. I support teens and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, identity. With teens, I integrate art and play-based elements to meet them in their world—using creativity and connection to foster trust and expression.
In my work with couples, I use Relational Life Therapy (RLT). This approach helps couples move through trauma, deepen self-awareness, and shift relational patterns that keep us stuck and relational struggles—including around communication, conflicts, sex and intimacy.
My practice is especially focused on supporting LGBTQIA+ folks, immigrants, and racialized communities, with a strong commitment to creating affirming, and culturally aware. Therapy with me is collaborative—an unfolding process where you set the pace, and we explore your story together, piece by piece.
Outside the therapy room, I recharge through art classes, meditation, and hikes in nature. These practices keep me grounded and remind me that healing doesn’t only happen in session—it’s something we live, moment by moment.
If you are curious or have any questions, I offer a free 15-minute consultation—feel free to reach out. I would d be glad to connect and explore whether we might be a good fit. Whether you are looking for support as an individual or as a couple, it would be an honor to walk alongside you.
Warmly,
Kartik

With over 20 years of experience in education and 7 years dedicated to counselling, I am passionate about helping individuals, particularly teenagers, adults, couples and families, navigate life’s challenges. My professional journey began in education, where I developed a deep understanding of adolescent development, behavior, and the unique struggles faced by young people today.
Throughout my career, I have focused on working with individuals to address issues that lead to emotional distress. I work to create a supportive and nonjudgmental environment, where clients can explore their feelings and work towards understanding themselves better. My approach is holistic and client-centered, integrating various therapeutic modalities to meet the unique needs of each individual or family. Drawing on techniques from Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy, I will tailor sessions to empower clients, foster resilience, and encourage personal growth.

Hello and welcome,
My name is Lori Dawn, and I am a Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists and a Canadian Certified Counsellor through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
I bring over 21 years of experience working in education and 11 years of direct experience supporting the mental health and well-being of children, teens, and families. Before becoming a therapist. I worked as a special educator in various educational settings, where I had the privilege of supporting individuals with diverse needs, many of whom faced challenges related to learning, emotional regulation, and social interaction. This work continues to shape my compassionate and informed approach to therapy.
As a counsellor, I have supported clients navigating a wide range of challenges including anxiety, depression, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, trauma, low self-esteem, grief, behaviour issues, relationship struggles, and life transitions. I have extensive experience working with children and youth, including those who are neurodivergent, as well as individuals and families in crisis. I am also passionate about supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ community and am committed to providing culturally responsive and affirming care to clients from diverse backgrounds.
My therapeutic approach is trauma-aware, holistic, and person-centered. I believe that healing is most effective when clients are understood in the context of their environment, relationships, culture, and lived experience. I use an integrative model of counselling, drawing on evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. I also incorporate mindfulness, meditation, creative arts, and movement—particularly when working with children and teens—to create a space that fosters expression, connection, and healing.
You can expect me to approach our work together with empathy, openness, and deep respect for your story. Whether you’re navigating personal struggles, major life changes, or seeking growth and self-discovery, I’m here to support you in a way that feels safe, empowering, and aligned with your values and goals.
I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting. But taking this step is already an act of courage and self-care—and I’d be honoured to walk alongside you on your path toward personal wellness.
Looking forward to meeting you,
Lori Dawn
Welcome!
My name is Sarah and I am a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists and a Canadian Certified Counsellor registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
I have an immense passion for working with children and adolescents and I am committed to being a strong ally and advocate for their mental health and wellbeing. I believe in a holistic approach to supporting young people so that they can be happy and healthy as well as thrive in all aspects of their life. In the previous 18 years of my career, before becoming a therapist, I have worked closely with children and adolescents as well as their families in educational settings. With a background in and specific training as a special educator, I have had the opportunity to work with amazingly diverse people who often experience unique challenges in life that go unnoticed or misunderstood.
I am experienced in working with children, teens and adults who are neurodivergent supporting with sensory processing, learning disabilities, and emotion regulation. Other areas of clinical focus are working with clients across the lifespan who are experiencing anxiety, depression, transitional life changes, phobias, grief, suicidal thoughts, and trauma.
From a therapeutic perspective, I like to work from an integrative approach where we work together to figure out what therapy interventions can provide a more personalized experience for you. The modalities I like to incorporate into my practice include Narrative Therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and Solutions-Focused Therapy. I recognize that children and adolescents need options and choice as they learn to explore their interpersonal skills and struggles. I like to incorporate creative arts and movement into the therapeutic process and other forms of expression to facilitate and encourage new understandings.
The therapy I provide is grounded in trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches. I believe in providing my clients with support through a strong sense of safety, trust, honesty, predictability, collaboration and empowerment. I will come to our sessions with curiosity and interest in you as a person, as I Iisten to your life story from a place of gratitude. I hope that you will feel comfortable in the open, non judgmental and sensory friendly spaces we have created. I strongly believe that each individual has the capacity to find their way through difficult experiences and emotions by learning more about themselves. Through this personal growth comes the capacity for healing, and through healing we can find new meaning and purpose in life. Coming to therapy can be overwhelming and difficult for many reasons but I hope that we get the opportunity to work together as you take this next step in your path to personal wellness.
Looking forward to meeting you,
Sarah

My name is Corin Mackenzie and I am a registered counselling therapist candidate (RCT-C) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I have a BArts degree from St. Mary’s University (2008), Early Childhood Education Diploma (2018), and a MArts in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University (2024).
Are you tired of always feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed? Having trouble finding motivation in our uncertain world? Do your reactions seem big and over reactive? Is the present affected by the past? I am here to help through a nonjudgmental and supportive lens offering you the chance to grow and reconnect with yourself. Through our work I aim to help you gain emotional regulation, motivation and cognitive change in negative thought patterns.
I have always had an interest in working with people and helping them through difficult times, and from an early age I had a deep interest in human behaviour. Life and career path did not always align and for a time management was my passion, however once becoming a parent my happiness dwindled, and I knew I needed to find a better path that aligned with my interests. I became an E.C.E. and took care of one of our most vulnerable populations (those 5 and under) and my interest in human behaviour was reborn. Taking advantage of the pandemic, I was able to finally achieve an education in counselling psychology, which leads me to today, finally getting to help others understand, alter, and grow using my knowledge on human behaviour.
I believe that we are all capable of change with an understanding of our own behaviours, triggers, thoughts, as well as an understanding of our biology and environment. I like to look at the individual as a whole and understand that there are many intersecting factors that have gotten us to where we are today. I believe that both nature and nurture are at play and that it is important to understand the role both have in our cognitions and behaviours.
I employ an approach that is tailored to the individual and that can stem in multiple therapy approaches. These approaches are founded in Cognitive Behavioural ideology with a person-centered approach. Some of the main therapies I use are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and I am currently enrolled in the Gottman Method. I believe that the client is the authority on their own story and so I aim to work collaboratively with clients to find the best way forward. I aim to meet the client where they are in the stages of change and aim to support them in a safe space free from judgment. I work with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, and general difficulties in life that require support in a safe therapeutic setting.
I look forward to working with you!
Corin

Hello and Welcome!
Thank you for taking the time to read a little about me! My name is Kylee Smith (she/her), and I am a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I hold degrees from Dalhousie University (BSc in Psychology) and Yorkville University (MA Counselling Psychology).
My approach is informed by my belief that we are all human, with a story, life experiences and struggles of our own. I understand how hard it can be to have a human mind that constructs various emotions, unhelpful thoughts and confusions that make us feel stuck and overwhelmed. However, if we can foster a greater connection to our identity, experiences, emotions and thoughts, we can nurture an environment that fosters growth, adaption, healing and decision-making.
I work virtually with individuals across the lifespan through a client-centred, culturally-sensitive and socially-just lens, that recognizes and appreciates the unique intersectionalities of each client. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, built on the foundations of trust, flexibility, accountability and respect. As your therapist I will strive to create a non-judgmental, welcoming environment in which you feel safe, supported and valued, as my goal is to be a compassionate and empathetic support on your journey of healing and wellness.
My therapeutic style is generated through the lens of attachment theory, I believe that supporting clients as they identify their needs, can establish the foundations for trust, affect regulation and interpersonal relationships. I work with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, self-image, and general difficulties in life that require support in the therapeutic setting. I am a Neurodiverse-Affirming Therapist, I work with clients who are Autistic, ADHD, OCD, and experience sensory or emotional challenges. My practice is rooted in a trauma informed, feminist and anti-oppressive lens and integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, narrative, and mindfulness-based practices to support my clients in reaching their goals and promoting their welfare
A personal note about me, I love creating art and capturing the internal and external experiences we endure throughout life. I currently live in Vancouver, B.C. and practice remotely, and I spend a lot of my free time enjoying the numerous hiking trails and mountains that surround me, relaxing on the beach, golfing, and travelling.
I look forward to working with you,
Kylee

Welcome,
My name is Mary Robertson (she/her), and I am a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate (RCT-C) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT).
Beginning therapy can feel overwhelming, and you may wonder what it will be like to share your story with someone new. In my space, you will be seen and accepted exactly as you are. You do not need to perform, mask, or minimize your experiences. You can bring your full self here, and I will meet you with compassion and without judgment.
I take a collaborative and integrative approach, tailoring each session to your goals and needs. I often use the metaphor that therapy is like being in a car: you are the driver, choosing the pace and direction, while I am the passenger beside you, helping you navigate. Some of the approaches I draw from include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Adlerian Therapy. I continue to expand my learning so I can offer you the best possible therapeutic experience.
My passion for supporting neurodivergent individuals is both professional and personal. During my practicum at Couch of Hope, this passion grew even stronger. I am also a mother to two neurodivergent young adults and married to a neurodivergent partner. Through my family and my professional work, I have witnessed the ableism and marginalization that people with neuro-differences often face. These experiences have shaped my commitment to offering a neuro-affirming, strengths-based space where difference is respected and celebrated.
It would be my privilege to walk alongside you on your journey of growth and healing.
Mary
