Welcome/Bienvenue!

My name is Kelsey Chiasson (She/Her/Elle). I am a registered counselling therapist candidate (RCT-C) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I enjoy working with individuals from various backgrounds, cultures, and lived experiences by providing client-centred counselling services to individuals (18+) and couples in person and virtually.

My utmost priority is to create a safe, authentic, and nonjudgmental space for each client. I believe that everyone is an expert in their own life, and I aim to help you discover your strengths. I understand that seeking help can be daunting, and as your therapist, I'm here to provide a space for you to explore your challenges at your own pace without feeling overwhelmed.  With my own lived experience and theoretical background, I aim to create a welcoming environment for folks and couples within the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Alongside such, I strive to create a neurodiversity-affirming practice; with acceptance, respect, empathy, empowerment and advocacy, it is possible to navigate through challenges and, together, work on finding your idea of success and flourish with a heightened sense of awareness and confidence that will translate in numerous areas of your life.

Before receiving my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP), my education journey included an undergraduate degree in Health Science and a Diploma in Massage Therapy. As a Registered Massage Therapist and founder of my practice, I have had the opportunity to grow and learn various skills. This has led to a further desire to learn more about trauma and anxiety and their role within the human mind and body, ultimately becoming a genuine passion for myself.

My therapeutic areas of interest include anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain, burnout, and grief. From a theoretical standpoint, I pull from several theoretical interventions and have training in Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Narrative and Somatic Therapy.

On a more personal note, I can often be found cooking, hiking, running, camping with my partner, or visiting beautiful Cape Breton Island, which holds a special space in my heart.

I look forward to connecting and walking on this journey alongside with you,

Kelsey

Everyone is Welcome
