Hello and Welcome!

Thank you for taking the time to read a little about me! My name is Kylee Smith (she/her), and I am a Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I hold degrees from Dalhousie University (BSc in Psychology) and Yorkville University (MA Counselling Psychology).

My approach is informed by my belief that we are all human, with a story, life experiences and struggles of our own. I understand how hard it can be to have a human mind that constructs various emotions, unhelpful thoughts and confusions that make us feel stuck and overwhelmed. However, if we can foster a greater connection to our identity, experiences, emotions and thoughts, we can nurture an environment that fosters growth, adaption, healing and decision-making.

I work virtually with individuals across the lifespan through a client-centred, culturally-sensitive and socially-just lens, that recognizes and appreciates the unique intersectionalities of each client. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, built on the foundations of trust, flexibility, accountability and respect. As your therapist I will strive to create a non-judgmental, welcoming environment in which you feel safe, supported and valued, as my goal is to be a compassionate and empathetic support on your journey of healing and wellness.

My therapeutic style is generated through the lens of attachment theory, I believe that supporting clients as they identify their needs, can establish the foundations for trust, affect regulation and interpersonal relationships. I work with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, self-image, and general difficulties in life that require support in the therapeutic setting.  My practice is rooted in a trauma informed, feminist and anti-oppressive lens and integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, narrative, and mindfulness-based practices to support my clients in reaching their goals and promoting their welfare

A personal note about me, I love creating art and capturing the internal and external experiences we endure throughout life. I currently live in Vancouver, B.C. and practice remotely, and I spend a lot of my free time enjoying the numerous hiking trails and mountains that surround me, relaxing on the beach, golfing, and travelling.

I look forward to working with you,

Everyone is Welcome
