First, I’d like to thank you for finding the time to explore how you can improve your own well-being.

As a married man and father of two, I can relate to the pressures of life and understand how hard it can be to find even a moment for ourselves, let alone our families. How have we ended up living so far from the people we want to be? Why has it been so long since we truly felt alive?

These are the types of questions that brought me to complete my Masters in Education with a Counselling focus at Acadia University in 2018. Since then, I’ve worked as a remote specialist, providing bilingual mental health support for individuals and couples all across the country, including the Northern Territories.

My passion is understanding the human condition and deconstructing the idea that as men, we are only allowed to be angry. At no point have I found evidence that men lack the emotions that women do, rather, we’ve been taught that feeling anything is a sign of weakness. The efforts we make to suppress our emotions can be exhausting. All of a sudden, the world seems to be spinning too fast and no matter how tired we feel, there’s no safe place to land. Workplace stress, children awake at all hours and tension in our homes can make us feel overwhelmed, irritable, and hopeless.

I draw on compassion and my own unique set of experiences, ranging from; fishing lobster and working construction, to caring for the chronically ill, palliative care, and now thousands of hours of clinical counselling, to connect in a pure and honest way. I meet you in the moment and tailor my approach to help you determine how to begin moving in the direction you want to go.

I have post-graduate training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as treating PTSD. Though I have to admit, the greatest sum of learning in my life hasn’t come from the courses I’ve taken or the books I’ve read. It’s come from the people I’ve been fortunate enough to meet, listen to and connect with.

If you feel deep down that life can be different but aren’t sure what to do, give me a call and we’ll work together to take life back.
