Hello and Welcome!

I'm Dave - a Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidate (RTC-C). My practice is anchored in trauma-informed therapy, tailored for individuals and couples, with a focus in social anxiety, addiction, perfectionism, and depression in adults.

My roots trace back to the city of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and prior to my venture into therapy, I was a jazz pianist and composer. My professional entry into mental health started with an undergraduate degree in Addictions Counselling from the University of Lethbridge, which led me to achieve a master’s degree in counselling psychology from Yorkville University.

My professional experience includes working with young adults at an adventure therapy program in the Rocky Mountains, to a mindfulness treatment center in Palm Springs, California, to working with individuals at Couch of Hope here in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. These experiences have allowed me to witness the profound impact that therapy has on the human spirit. My conviction in the effectiveness of talk therapy is unwavering: I believe in its power to foster significant improvement in your quality of life and to help you navigate the complex stresses that impact your mental health. The change I see in everyone I have worked with - as they cultivate new ways of being and receive the support they deserve - is the reason my dedication to this work endures.

In my practice, I use many different therapeutic approaches—Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy for individuals and couples, The Gottman Method for couples, and mindfulness-based techniques. My commitment is to collaborate with you, to attentively listen and understand your story, and together strive to discover a healing trajectory that reflects your unique needs.

If it’s a compassionate, non-judgemental, understanding, and supportive space you’re looking for, I am here to help you each step of the way.

Looking forward to connecting with you,

Dave

Everyone is Welcome
