Hello and Welcome!

My name is Brooklyn Thompson (she/her), I am Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Concordia University of Edmonton and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.

As a therapist, I believe that people are separate from their problems. As individuals, we face many challenges throughout our lives. By creating space between us and our problems, we are better able to recognize our strengths and establish the skills necessary to manage our challenges. This also allows us to identify our values and live in accordance with these values. To best support you in your journey, I will draw from several frameworks to meet your needs. These frameworks include, but are not limited to, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Self-Compassion Therapy. Developing a treatment plan is a collaborative process. Together, we can determine the best course of action and use modalities that work best for you.

I am passionate about supporting individuals, and couples, navigating relationship challenges. Interpersonal relationships have significant impact on how we feel in our day to day lives. Addressing challenges in our relationships can have a huge impact on our overall wellbeing.  I also have experience working with those who are experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, life transitions, as well as military family members.

As a military spouse, I have experienced the challenges of relocation, extended periods away from my spouse, and the uniqueness of military culture. Due to these experiences, I am better able to support individuals and couples who are facing similar challenges. Similarly, I am familiar with the resources available to military family members and can support you in accessing such services.

I look forward to walking along side you in your journey to healing and personal growth.

Everyone is Welcome
